POSITION:   Community Carer

RESPONSIBLE TO:        Head of Home Care

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

You will be providing service out in the community and hence need the ability to drive yourself from one client to the other meaning you must have access to a car during your shift.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. To assist service users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and the toilet.
  2. To help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  3. To care for service users who are temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing, help with feeding, etc.
  4. To help care for service users who are dying.
  5. To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
  6. To make and change beds; tidy rooms; do light cleaning and empty commodes.
  7. To inspect, launder and mend service users’ clothing.
  8. To set tables and trays; serve meals; feed service users who need help; prepare light meals and wash up; tidy and clear the dining room.
  9. To answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors.
  10. To read and write reports; take part in staff and service users’ meetings and in training activities as directed.
  11. To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
  12. To comply with the home’s guidelines and policies at all times.
  13. To report to the Home Care Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
  14. To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.

Rewards:

Great rates of pay up to £600 per week

21 days annual leave

All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974.

At Kangaroo Healthcare we have a comprehensive process to ensure we only recruit the best quality live-in carer that most closely matches our clients’ needs.
Once you have carefully read about the roles and responsibilities of a live-in carer/carer or nurse, we need you to complete an application form and submit it.
Your application form will then be initially assessed by a member of Kangaroo Healthcare specialist recruitment team and if the initial criteria are met you will be invited to a formal interview and we will process your references.

DBS Checks

The Main purpose of the DBS is to help Employers in England and Wales to make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups including children. Kangaroo Healthcare is committed to safer recruitment.
In order for you to join our team as a Carer, you need to apply online for a DBS/CRB Click Online DBS

STEP 1:  THE APPLICANT: Create a DBS(CRB) Application Create a DBS(CRB) Application
the applicant enters their personal details onto an online DBS(CRB) Application form.
To do this they need to (please give these log-in details to your DBS applicants):

  1. Go to our website: www.dbsdirect.co.uk and click on the link “Log-In – Online Application” at the top of our homepage
  2. Scroll down to the ”ORANGE BOX” and click on the link to Log-In
  3. Enter the Generic Organisation Reference, which is (nb: this is case sensitive) KANGAROOHEALTHCARE
  4. Enter the Generic Application Form Password, which is (nb: this is case sensitive): KANGAROOHEALTHCARE
  5. A blank DBS Application form will open on your screen.  Follow the on-screen instructions and fill in your personal details
  6. After you have created your on-line DBS Application, please contact your Organisation/Employer as you need to show them some ID Documents.  A list of ID documents that you can provide is available from  dbsdirect.co.uk

Please note: Applicants will be prompted to pay for their application when they complete their online application form.  Payment methods accepted are credit/debit card or PayPal.  It is important they have their card/PayPal details to hand when they complete their on-line DBS Application.
After we have your references and a clean DBS, we will then contact you confirming the job offer.

Face -To-Face Interviews

Having met the initial requirements, we will invite you to attend an interview at our respective offices. This interview will last up to 60 minutes. You will meet the team at Kangaroo Healthcare and be interviewed by one of our Admin team. Following your Formal Interview and successful placement, we will then contact your referees for verbal and email references.
